Meet Thee Legacy Lady: Nina Henderson-Myers
Legacy isn’t just about wealth—it’s about breaking barriers, overcoming challenges, and creating opportunities that last for generations. That belief has guided me throughout my career in real estate, mortgage lending, and financial empowerment.
I grew up in Detroit, where nearly everyone I knew worked in the automotive industry. Raised by a single mother, I attended public schools and was taught early on to strive for excellence in everything I do to obtain more for myself. But navigating life as the first woman in my immediate family to secure a mortgage, graduate high school, and earn a college degree came with challenges. From working at 15 to becoming Michigan’s youngest loan officer at 18, my journey was built on resilience and determination.
When the mortgage company I worked for closed, I pivoted to Chrysler’s assembly line, where my parents had met, to put myself through college—at one point juggling three jobs at once. As I worked tirelessly to save for my first home, I was also facing one of the toughest periods of my life: my mother was fighting cancer. Through long hours and unwavering determination, I worked seven days a week, 12-16 hours a day for three months, just to afford my first home at 21 years old—only to face discrimination based on my age, gender, and race. My first Realtor failed me, but the right one empowered me, and that changed everything. I obtained my real estate license and they journey began.
After earning my B.S. Degree in Psychology and Business from the University of Michigan, I had a profound realization—I had already been doing what I was meant to do all along. My journey had shaped me into an advocate for homeownership, and my experiences had already made me an expert in guiding others through the process. However, the tools and knowledge I gained in college, combined with my decades of experience, strengthened my ability to serve my clients, providing them with education, strategies, and financial insight to build their own legacies.
I returned to the real estate industry full time, obtained my mortgage license, and built my business with one mission: to ensure others never face the hurdles I did and to help families build their legacies through real estate, knowledge, and financial empowerment.
As the CEO of Henderson-Myers Home Services LLC, I am a licensed Real Estate Broker and Mortgage Loan Originator, dedicated to helping individuals and families build financial security through real estate, credit education, and investment strategies.
